The story of fashion over the past 400 years is brought alive at the Fashion Museum, a world-class collection of contemporary and historical dress. The museum has recently been re-displayed, showing dress from 1750 to the present day. Adults and children are able to try on reproduction corsets and crinolines, and Victorian costume in the interactive displays.
The whole experience takes place within the magnificent setting of the Assembly Rooms, where, in Georgian Times, more than a thousand people would gather for parties and balls.
The Assembly Rooms Café is open nearly every day and there is a particularly fine fashion book and gift shop.
Special exhibitions for 2015 include: ‘Georgians’ until 1 Jan 2016; ‘Great Names of Fashion’, 31 Jan-end 2015
