20 Fashion Museum and Assembly Rooms

The story of fashion over the past 400 years is brought alive at the Fashion Museum, a world-class collection of contemporary and historical dress. The Museum has recently been re-displayed. Special exhibitions for 2010 include the 'Dress of the Year' Display - fashion's from 1963 - Present; 'Dresses of History' - Georgian and Victorian dress from the museum's collection; 'Photographing Fashion' - exhibition of black and white photographs, opening 27 March.

Visitors are able to try on reproduction corsets and crinolines in the interactive displays.

The whole experience takes place within the magnificent setting of the Assembly Rooms, where in Georgian Times, more than a thousand people would gather for parties and balls. The Assembly Rooms café is open nearly every day and there is a particularly fine fashion bookshop and gift shop.

Opening hours: Jan-Feb & Nov-Dec 10.30am-4.00pm, exit 5.00pm. Mar-Oct 10.30am-5pm, exit 6pm.
