23: Bristol Zoo Gardens

New for summer 2006, Monkey Jungle, featuring 'meet the lemurs'. This offers an immersive forest experience where monkeys mingle with gorillas and visitors enjoy close-up, walk through, encounters with lemurs. Senses will be filled with the sights, sounds and smells of the forest. There is also the award winning 'Seal & Penguin Coasts' where you come face to face with seals and penguins through transparent underwater walkways. Discover other favourites including Gorilla Island with its growing family of Western lowland gorillas and the latest edition 'Namoki', Twilight World, Bug World, the Reptile House and the Zoo's impressive animal displays. From the smallest and rarest tortoise in the world, to the largest ape, there are over 400 exotic and endangered species to experience.

Opening hours: Daily from 9am, closing approx 5.30pm (peak season), 4.30pm (off peak). Closed Christmas Day.
